‘Cicadas’ is a poem by Kevin Devaney. I put together this video for his masters reading at Sarah Lawrence. I was immediately drawn to ‘Cicadas’ – both Kevin and I are from the same area in Massachusetts, we’ve both made our journeys up and down 91, 95 and the Pike. The drives, the MetroNorth rides to and from New York always seem the most maddening. I knew I wanted to recreate that lonely, dreamy, sleepy, searching feeling where the only desired destination is a soft bed but there’s still more miles to go.
